Supporting Will Aid: How Edward Harte Solicitors Helped Make a Difference in 2025

At Edward Harte Solicitors, we believe that making a Will should be accessible, straightforward and meaningful. That is why we were pleased to take part in the Will Aid scheme again in 2025.

Will Aid is an annual campaign that takes place every November. During the campaign, solicitors across the UK volunteer their time to prepare basic Wills at no cost. Instead of paying a fee, clients are invited to make an optional donation to charity. These donations go on to support a number of charities that work with some of the most vulnerable people in the UK and overseas.

What Is Will Aid?

Will Aid has been running for many years and brings together legal professionals who want to use their expertise to support good causes. The idea is simple. Solicitors donate their time, clients receive a professionally prepared Will, and charities benefit from voluntary donations.

The scheme supports eight partner charities, all of which work in areas such as health, housing, emergency relief and social care. Donations made through Will Aid help fund essential services and long-term support for individuals, families and communities.

The donations raised through the Will Aid scheme support the following charities:

• Age UK
• British Red Cross
• Christian Aid
• Crisis
• NSPCC
• Shelter
• SCIAF
• Trócaire

Each charity plays a vital role, from supporting older people and families in crisis, to providing emergency aid and tackling homelessness. Taking part in Will Aid allows clients to support these causes while also putting their own affairs in order.

Edward Harte Solicitors and Will Aid

By participating in multiple Will Aid campaigns, Edward Harte Solicitors has helped raise a total of £1,185.00 in charitable donations. We are proud of this contribution and of the opportunity to support both our clients and the charities involved.

For us, Will Aid is about more than just writing Wills. It is about giving people peace of mind while also helping to make a positive impact beyond our local community.

When Does Will Aid Take Place?

Will Aid runs every November, but enquiries usually open earlier in the year, typically in September or October. Places can be limited, so early enquiries are encouraged.

If you are interested in taking part, we ask that you contact our firm through our website once enquiries open. This helps us manage appointments and ensure we can support as many people as possible during the campaign.

What Type of Wills Are Covered?

The Will Aid scheme applies to simple Wills only. This usually includes straightforward instructions about how your estate should be distributed and who you would like to act as executors.

If your circumstances are more complex, such as involving trusts, business interests or overseas assets, we can still help. In those cases, we will explain the options available and any associated costs clearly and in advance.

Why Making a Will Matters

Many people delay making a Will, often because it feels complicated or something that can be dealt with later. In reality, having a Will in place is one of the most important steps you can take to protect your wishes and your loved ones.

Making a Will ensures that your estate is handled in line with your intentions and can help avoid uncertainty or disputes in the future. Will Aid provides a valuable opportunity to do this while also supporting charities that make a real difference.
